Year 7 Drama

We have been learning about puppetry, creating shadow puppets shows. We made our own theatres, puppets and stories. We are now filming them to make a short film.

This term we went on an excursion to the Malt House Theatre where we were taken on a backstage tour. It was the first time many of us had stepped inside a working theatre.

“The building was beautiful and had lots of character”- Aaliyah

“It was very educational. We learnt about different staging techniques.” – Amina

“It was interesting to see the back stage workers work on the set and how they created the set pieces.”- Aurpi

Years 7 & 8 Science

I would like to thank you for attending the parent/teacher interviews. I appreciate your taking the time to meet with me, and I hope that our meeting was able to provide you with some valuable insight into your child’s progress in science. I look forward to our continued partnership throughout the remainder of the school year. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In Term 2, Year 7 students have been productively learning about mixtures and the Earth’s resources. In the mixtures topic, they enjoyed doing experiments where they further explored practical components of this topic. For the Earth’s resources topic, there was an excursion to CERES National Park, where they further explored the importance of Earth’s resources and sustainability.

Year 8 students enjoyed learning about their favourite periodic table and worked efficiently throughout the term. There is an upcoming excursion to Hanging Rock for Year 8s in Term 3, where they’ll further explore rocks, and rock formation and enjoy the Australian natural landscape.

Year 7 Research students had been exploring forensic science and worked hard to present their findings to class.

Year 8 Research students investigated minerals in everyday life and proudly presented their findings to class.

As a new teacher at Sirius College, I am very proud to be part of your children’s achievements in science, and I hope that this journey of learning will continue.

Kind regards,
Mrs Berina Pandzo
Teacher of Science
